 Please note; As Maria Bussell can tell you, I've been extremely ill all weekend, her crew the only ones who saw me for 30 seconds on Saturday where I was flat on my back.  Dragging myself to the computer I etched out a story for the Advocate to consider.   It is Tuesday morning, 10:28 am and I'm attempting to get some work done today, feeling a tad better.   1 week to election day

Hello Mr. Mitchell,

Wondering if you would let a citizen respond to the mayor regarding

his Op-Ed in the October 24th edition

As you know I've been quoted in the NY Times, Boston Globe and

more books than I can count.  Have interviewed Jodie Foster,

Back to the Future director Robert Zemeckis, Mick Taylor of the

Rolling Stones, and handled promotion of a record with Beatle George

Harrison and Ten Years After's Alvin Lee ("Real Life Blues," which

hit Top 25 in Boston on Billboard's charts in 1992.)  i was also

a judge in this year's 41st Annual Boston Film Fest.

Carlo DeMaria did some great public service with the Encore Casino

and the removal of an inefficient access TV manager and replacing him

with the brilliant Akinyele Staples.   Mr. DeMaria's subordinate had dropped

the ball, and Mr. DeMaria picked it up and hit a grand slam.

I told his Honor on October 17, 2025 that I loved some of what he's done.

But if you read the book Michael Jackson, Inc., the late rock star did too

good a job promoting and for the general public ennui had set in.  
Jackson had to step aside for awhile.

This is what Mr. DeMaria is facing on October 25, 2025, less than

two weeks from an election that DeMaria may very well lose.

Why is it that my TV show is taped in the cellar of City Hall, yet I

never met the mayor until a week ago?  He certainly knew who I was

(and am!) as he came up to me and started chatting.

You may have heard the old joke, "Why does your grandmother read

the Bible so much?"  The little kid answers "She's cramming for finals."

I love nanas, all due respect to them, but what is poignant about the twisted humor

is that it certainly feels like Carlo DeMaria is "cramming for finals."

Along with the financial mess facing our current mayor, and a 13 year old with

a knife captured by ICE (who tipped them off?) and a tragedy like two individuals

killed by a crane falling, DeMaria doesn't seem to have answers to questions that

the public wants answered.  Even George Regan's much vaunted skills are having

a tough time, it seems, 'splainin this. 

Attorney Rob Van Campen is smart, determined and is actually a man for and of

the people.   He does not come with the Carlo baggage of Wayne Matewsky, 

Anthony DiPierro's blatant racism and other things we shall not talk about, the

nepotism at City Hall, Aunty Nicole DiPierro's hand forced by yours truly to ban

her nephew, Anthony DiPierro, from ever using our community room again.

After having to resign for his racist buffoonery, DiPierro then

abuses the senior center at Whittier, promoting his face all

over senior housing, in violation of State Ethics Commission

rules.  Anthony DiPierro did not learn his lesson.

Then there's the attorney with the unclean hands, Fran LaRovere.

Oh my God.  I've dealt with many an attorney in my day but 
LaRovere is a real piece of work.   I'm not an attorney, spending

my time producing records, and documenting the plethora of

elder abuse at Whittier Drive (not limited to Anthony DiPierro's

sophomoric stunts. Hasn't he run out of spitballs to shoot yet?)

but LaRovere, in my opinion, is the quintessential elder abuser.

When Carlo Fights for instead of with DiPierro, DiPierro, LaRovere, Mathewsky

and Slattery, LLC, the city loses

Couple that rogues' gallery with the mayor's own $64,000.00 questions (or is

it $180,000 + $30.00 questions) the citizens are tired.

 

The Everett Advocate, drenched in red, has received nearly $700,000.00 from

DeMaria's Administration, the biggest vendor in Everett.  All due respect to

Jim Mitchell but some of that money could be spent on investigating the alleged drug

dealers at Whittier, the alleged illegal casino in a bungalow at senior housing,

a madman yelling the racist "God Bless America, say it or go back to where

you came from," and Anthony DiPierro's best buddy, the town drunk who has

sexually harassed a man and a woman at senior housing.  I obtained two

restraining orders on him plus a verbal lashing from the judge, which LaRovere

witnessed.

A cousin of DeMaria's had LaRovere lie to the judge, which I call perjury-via-counsel,

but I set the judge straight and said "They.......know.....everything."  The judge believed

me because I was telling the truth.  And La Rovere witnessed the town drunk getting

blasted by the judge.

So why is our community room at 21 Whittier entertaining a mayor and a police

chief on July 10 (and few showing up,) and the mayor again on October 17, 2025,

with few showing up, and a madman grabbing his crotch (we have the video) and

attacking the Mystic Valley Elder Services person and Darren Costa in June 2025 and

DiPierro's town drunk friend violating the restraining order (and going unpunished,) 

smashing a vase and pushing all the furniture against the wall to hide the piano?  

It's ludicrous, and Mayor DeMaria has done nothing to stop the violence at Senior Housing.

Where was Police Chief Strong for those events?

 

Rob Van Campen promises to be there for 

the people. 

He promises to clean up senior housing.

And for an elder in the community that has faced

violence and sexual harassment, I welcome the breath

of fresh air that change will bring.

Carlo, you did some great things, and we appreciate them,

but you have worn out your welcome.  The energy of the

Van Campen campaign, and the tedium you are currently

experiencing from the lack of enthusiasm after 18

years means that you should probably take the hint.
