The Issue
The residents at 381 Ferry Street, Everett Massachusetts are be ignored about the heat in the building during the summer months. Some tenants are having heat related issues such as, swelling of limbs and difficulty breathing issues. Tenants are visiting the emergency rooms from heat exhaustion and no one from the office is reporting it to the state nor are they advocating to help its tenants be comfortable in their own units during the summer months.
The office where the director and associates work are so cold they leave the office with light jackets and even sweaters.
Tenants have been known to sleep in the penthouse from the unbearable heat at night. It was approved by the office and there is live video footage, to sustain is claim. Tenants can’t even cook from the heat and if they do, it’s been known to get above 110° in each unit. Some tenants have to buy pre-made meals in order to avoid the heat in the apartments. Most of us are on fixed incomes, to do buy expensive pre-made meals for two or three weeks at a time. The building gets so hot, our cold water comes out room temperature.
The only thing they provide is cool a lobby and cool penthouse, which no can use for long periods of time due to the six cell phones/communication towers that cause radiation. They tell us to use the lobby and penthouse, but it’s 120 units in this building for us all to congregate in that lobby space. The cell towers cause radiation, which they never even decided to involve or ask the tenants for their input nor warn us of the radiation risk, when most of us have pre-medical conditions. Our laundry room is located next to these towers and they are not air conditioned equipped, anything that involves the tenants is not air conditioning equipped.
As tax paying citizens who have worked their entire lives to live comfortably during their last years of retirement, this shouldn’t happen. People with disabilities have to live under these horrible conditions as well. Not to mention our handicapped Veterans

Attached to this petition are a few pictures of what the tenants are going through and some papers to resolve this heat issue, such as air conditioning units for each apartment or a property installation of ac units on the outside porch floor.
Housing workers have to also work under these extreme conditions, but are to scared to sign petition due to retaliation. Some residents FEEL the same way.
The people running this building are bullies and make most of us feel vulnerable and voiceless. Most of these complaints aren’t even on paper because most elderly and mentally I’ll do not know how to use emails. If you read the reviews on Google you will see how rude these people are on the phone and to the community.
please sign, our residents need your signature.
