Former Boston Housing Secretary Pleads Guilty to Falsifying Overtime Forms

A former Boston Housing Authority employee who pleaded guilty to collecting more than $70,000 in fraudulent overtime pay was sentenced to two years probation, the Massachusetts U.S. Attorney’s Office announced.

Helen Murray, 42, of Malden, pleaded guilty to a federal wire fraud charge in March. In addition to the probation, Murray will also have to pay restitution equivalent to money she stole.

According to court records, Murray worked for the BHA from 2017 to 2024 as an executive secretary who was responsible for collecting employee timesheets.

Starting in 2023, she submitted more than 100 overtime forms by falsifying her supervisor’s signature without their knowledge for a total of $72,131.
